Ashington Civic Head Presents Grant to Local Gymnastics Club

Ashington Town Council is delighted to share that Civic Head, Councillor Caroline Ball, recently visited Wansbeck Gymnastics and Trampolining Club to present a grant cheque that will fund essential new training equipment.
The award-winning club, which recently relocated to a dedicated facility at Ashwood Business Park in Ashington, will use the funding to purchase a specialised polished training bar. This crucial piece of equipment reduces friction, enabling gymnasts to safely perform increased repetitions and skill progressions while using safety straps.
During her visit, Cllr Ball met with coaches and members, witnessing firsthand the club's commitment to inclusive excellence.
"It's wonderful to see how this thriving club creates opportunities for people of all ages and abilities," said Cllr Ball. "Their new facility is impressive, and we're proud to support their continued growth."
Wansbeck Gymnastics and Trampolining Club has built an impressive reputation as a fully inclusive organisation, serving 463 members from beginner recreational levels to national competition standards.
Beyond sporting achievement, the club emphasises positive impacts on health, wellbeing, mental health, discipline, and social relationships.
The club also offers pathways for personal development through its leadership academy for young volunteers, British Gymnastics coaching qualification opportunities, and apprenticeship programs.
