Ashington Town Council Grant Presented to Sea Cadets at Awards Evening

Civic Head Councillor Caroline Ball attended the Ashington Sea Cadets' awards evening on Friday, 4th April 2025, where she presented an annual grant on behalf of Ashington Town Council. The funding will support the valuable work of this local youth organisation.

The presentation took place during the Sea Cadets' celebration event, which recognised the achievements of cadets aged 10-18 from the Ashington unit.

Following the grant presentation, Councillor Ball shared her thoughts on the evening: "What an amazing night at Ashington Sea Cadets where I presented awards to lots of cadets and was able to meet them and hear all of the fantastic things they are able to do, on and off the water - a terrific organisation right here in our town and a huge well done to all the cadets and volunteers involved."

Supporting Local Youth Development

The annual grant from Ashington Town Council will help the Sea Cadets continue their important work of providing opportunities for local young people. The organisation offers a range of activities both on and off the water, helping cadets develop teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, and self-discipline.

Plans for the Grant Funding

The Ashington Sea Cadets plan to use the grant to make their building a better and safer place for the cadets. The funding will also support:

  • Training volunteers in water safety and various boating qualifications
  • Expanding water activities on the River Wansbeck
  • Increasing community engagement through local events
  • Securing the future of the unit for current and future cadets

The grant represents Ashington Town Council's commitment to supporting organizations that provide positive opportunities for young people in the community.

Ashington Sea Cadets extends their thanks to Ashington Town Council and Councillor Caroline Ball for their continued support.
