ASHINGTON MEMORIAL GARDEN REGENERATION

Ashington Memorial Garden will be temporarily closed from Monday 12th May 2025 for approximately 4-6 weeks to allow for regenerative works to improve the area. These improvements coincide with other public realm and regeneration works happening in the town. Visit Northumberland County Council using the link below for more information.

The timing of these works has been planned to take place after VE Day celebrations and well in advance of Remembrance events. We anticipate no delays to the project schedule and expect the garden to be fully reopened by the end of June 2025, ensuring it remains available for enjoyment and reflection during the majority of the summer months.
Project Details
Brambledown has been appointed to carry out comprehensive improvements including:
- Complete site remediation (removal of existing concrete and preparation for new landscaping)
- Installation of new paving and refurbishment of existing paved areas
- New granite kerbing throughout the garden
- Introduction of woodland planting areas to enhance the natural environment
These improvements will significantly enhance the garden's appearance, accessibility, and overall visitor experience.
We appreciate your understanding during this temporary closure and look forward to welcoming you back to an improved Ashington Memorial Garden in June.
