Free Local Activities Available Throughout May 2025

Are you looking for ways to boost your mental health and wellbeing? Northumberland Recovery College offers a wide range of free, non-clinical group sessions designed to support mental health recovery for all adults living or working in Northumberland.

What Makes Northumberland Recovery College Special?

  • Free sessions across the county focused on improving mental wellbeing
  • Co-produced activities created in partnership with students and professionals
  • Led by Peer Support Workers with lived experience of mental health issues
  • Inclusive environment where you can meet new people and make positive connections

May 2025 Highlights

This month's timetable features a diverse range of activities to suit different interests:

Physical Wellbeing:

  • Boxing for Wellbeing
  • Men's Recreational Football at Hirst Welfare Centre (Fridays, 12pm-1:30pm)

Creative Expression:

  • Singing for Wellbeing at Newbiggin Sports & Community Hub (Wednesdays, 1pm-3pm)
  • Rhythms at the Heart of Wellbeing at Pegswood Welfare Hall (Thursdays, 11am-1pm)
  • Crafty Craic in Ashington (Wednesdays, 11am-1pm)

Mental Wellbeing:

  • Guided Imagery (Online, Monday-Thursday, 9am-9:30am)
  • Happiness & Meditation Club in Ashington (Fridays, 11am-12:30pm & 1pm-2:30pm)
  • Wellbeing Workshop (Online, Thursdays, 11am-12pm)

Support Groups:

  • Autism Peer Support Groups (Online, various times)
  • All About: ADHD (Online)
  • Talking Heads at Hirst Welfare Centre (Mondays, 1:30pm-2:30pm)
  • Manly Chatters at Bedlington Community Centre (Fortnightly on Thursdays, 1pm-2:30pm)

Social Connection:

  • Café Connect in various locations:
    • Morpeth Methodist Church (Mondays, 10am-11:30am)
    • St George's Park Hospital, Morpeth (Mondays, 1pm-3:30pm)
    • The Bothy, Ashington (Wednesdays, 1pm-2:30pm)
  • What's the Craic? at The Bothy (Wednesdays, 5:30pm-7pm)
