Ashington Town Council has approved the final allocation of small grants for the 2024-25 financial year, supporting a diverse range of community organisations and clubs that serve local residents. The Council has awarded grants totaling £3,665 to eight community groups, each providing valuable services to Ashington residents across sports, wellbeing, mental health, and social activities.

Councillor Lynne Grimshaw, Chair of the Finance and General Services Committee, said, ”We’re delighted to support these wonderful community organisations in their important work. These grants, while modest in size, will help sustain vital services that improve the physical and mental wellbeing of Ashington residents of all ages.”

Their approach focuses on empowering local voices and ensuring projects are shaped by those they benefit, while championing practical action to combat climate and nature emergencies. This expertise will be invaluable in developing the woodland’s future while ensuring the community remains at the heart of decision-making.
