Ashington Town Council Connects with Young People at Dukes Academy Roadshow

Ashington Town Council joined local organisations at Dukes Academy on 28th January for a community roadshow designed to help young people discover the services and opportunities available to them.

The event, organised by Carla Thompson from Northumberland County Council’s Locality Team and Danielle Towers from Dukes Academy, brought together organisations including the NCC Community Safety Team, YMCA, Rape Crisis, Newcastle United Foundation, Pride Action Northumberland, Bernicia, NCC Sports Development Team, Beyond Youth, Koast Radio, Health Trainers and more.

Ashington Pride Family Picnic 2025

On Saturday 6th September, Ashington came together to celebrate love, diversity, and community at the Pride Family Picnic in Hirst Park, delivered in partnership between Pride Action North and Ashington Town Council.

Running from 12 noon to 3pm, the picnic created a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ people, families, and allies to celebrate together. Despite an unexpected challenge when a car accident temporarily blocked the park entrance, the event still drew 308 attendees — with 258 people actively joining in activities and an impressive 71 young people getting involved.
