As part of Ashington Town Council’s small grant scheme, the Civic Head, Cllr Victor Bridges presented a cheque of £500 to Blossoming Communities today, Wednesday 6th December.

Ashington Town Council has invited County Council leader, Cllr Glen Sanderson to address concerns over delays and reallocated funding related to the Ashington Regeneration Project.

In a letter sent on Thursday, following Tuesday’s Full Council meeting decision, the Town Council outlined frustrations with the lack of transparency around timeline changes and budget adjustments to the North East Quarter Redevelopment phase of the project. While the complexities of managing the multi-year, multi-phase regeneration initiative are acknowledged, members and residents have been disappointed by stalled investment plans in the past.

The holiday season will officially kick off in Ashington this week with the return of the town’s anticipated Christmas Light Switch-On event on Thursday, November 30th from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.

In Ashington we have a serious issue with waste disposal and fly tipping, with over 40 fly-tips being removed by Rapid Response each week, 72,840kg collected from the streets from April to end of October. This is a reactive response to illegal fly-tipping, not a service. It is delivered by Northumberland County Council and paid for by Ashington Town Council, via your precept.

The seating area at Laburnum Terrace has undergone recent enhancement works to upgrade the amenities and appearance of this public space frequently used by Ashington residents.
