Ashington Town Council has recently installed locally made seating at two bus shelters in the town. This project highlights the Council’s commitment to sustainability and utilising local skill, with the seats expertly crafted by Mr Tony Webster of Websters Workshop, based at Green Lane Workspace.

Ashington Town Council is pleased to announce that our Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) for the financial year 2023/24 has been completed. This vital process ensures that our financial practices are transparent and meet the highest standards of accountability.

What is AGAR? As a public body, the Council is required by law to manage its finances responsibly and to ensure that public money is safeguarded, properly accounted for, and used efficiently. The AGAR is a yearly requirement, as part of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, which allows members of the public to inspect the Council’s financial records during a designated period.
